Obituary for Ruth L. Taylor

Ruth L. Taylor, age 91, passed at Cornerstone Hospice House in Tavares, Florida on Sunday, January 27th after suffering a stroke on January 22nd. She had lived at Brookdale Tavares Assisted Living since February 2015. Up until the day of her stroke, she was an avid reader who read the newspaper every morning. She loved watching the Animal Planet Channel and football, especially when UCF and New England Patriots were playing.

She is survived by her 3 children: Robert C. Taylor (wife - Susan), Annie L. Rosenheimer, and Richard F. Taylor (wife - Christi); 2 grandsons: Christopher T. Taylor and William O. Taylor.

Ruth Adelia Lansom was born in Lockport, New York. She married Orn A. Taylor in Atlanta Georgia in 1949. They moved from Lockport to Orlando in 1957. Ruth and Orn worked together as self-employed real estate brokers doing business as Orn A. Taylor, Realtor. Their office was located in the Azalea Park area of east Orlando. After closing their real estate business, Ruth began working at the University of Central Florida in the admissions office. She retired in 1988 with over 10 years of service. Her husband passed in 2006. She sold her east Orlando home and moved to Baptist Terrace Apartments in downtown Orlando in 2008 where she lived until moving to assisted living in Tavares in 2015. She was a member of the Orlando Baptist Church located on South Semoran Blvd.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that any memory gifts be made to either the Greater Clermont Cancer Foundation ( or to Cornerstone Hospice Tavares (

A graveside service will be held at Glen Haven Memorial Park on Saturday, February 16 at 1:00 pm.
